Privacy Policy
Effective Date: August 11, 2024
Simple Things ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how your information is handled by the Vault application.
1 Data Handled Locally
Vault is designed to be a local-first, privacy-focused application. We do not "collect" or store your data on any external servers.
- App Content: Your passwords, credit card details, banking information, notes, and other sensitive data are stored locally on your device. This data is protected by military-grade encryption (AES-256) and is never transmitted to our servers or any third party.
- Media and Attachments: Photos, documents, and other media you choose to store in Vault are encrypted and stored solely on your device.
- Biometric Data: If you enable biometric unlock (fingerprint or face recognition), this is handled entirely by the Android OS. Vault does not have access to, nor does it store, your actual biometric data.
- Technical Data: We do not collect personal identifiers. We may receive anonymized crash logs via the Google Play Store (if you have opted into sharing such info with developers) to help us fix bugs and improve performance.
2 How Your Data is Used Locally
We do not have access to your data. The information you input is processed locally on your device for:
- Providing core vault functionality (storing, searching, and organizing your records).
- Authenticating your access via your Master Password or Biometrics.
- Generating secure, encrypted backups when manually initiated by you.
3 Data Storage and Security
- Encryption: Vault uses advanced encryption (AES-256 via SQLite3 Multiple Ciphers) to secure your database. This ensures compatibility with modern Android standards (including Android 15's 16KB page size).
- Local Storage: Your database file resides in the app's protected local storage. It is not synced to any cloud service.
- Master Password: We do not know and cannot reset your Master Password. If you lose it, we cannot recover your data.
- Offline Operation: The application is designed to function entirely offline for maximum security.
4 No Data Sharing
We do not sell, trade, or share your personal data with third parties. Your vault content never leaves your device unless you choose to share a specific entry or export a backup yourself.
5 Data Ownership and Deletion
- Full Ownership: You own your data. You can add, edit, or delete entries at any time.
- Data Deletion: Since your data is stored locally, uninstalling the Vault application or clearing its data in Android Settings will permanently delete all your stored information.
- Backups: You are responsible for the security of any manual backups you export.
